Sussex Healthcare’s Unique Facilities Focus on the Total Person

The first Sussex Healthcare facility was opened in 1985 to provide quality residential care to the elderly and those with neurological disabilities. As lifespans continue to increase, the need for these types of facilities has grown and Sussex now has a network of more than 15 facilities. Each location caters to a specific clientele and has its own unique features. Visit CV Library to know more.

Size and Style – Sussex Healthcare facilities include an Edwardian country house, an Elizabethan manor, and a number of more modern buildings. The homes are close to cities or located in more remote areas with campuses that have gardens, fountains, courtyards, and even orchards. The largest facility has accommodations for 40 residents and the smallest has 10 private rooms. Visit the website to learn more.

Services – Each facility has 24-hour nursing or specialty care with a visiting physician. Meals are prepared by an onsite chef and served in a large dining area. There are indoor and outdoor activities to keep people mobile and involved so that each resident can maintain his or her physical and cognitive functioning. Some locations have therapy pools and spas, multi-sensory rooms, and salons.

Residents – Most of the Sussex Healthcare locations specialize in the care of the elderly and those suffering with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Some facilities include those with neurological disorders and others only serve those with disabilities.

The Sussex Healthcare philosophy is to serve the whole person. In keeping with this mission, Sussex has recently installed a full-service gym which includes weight machines, treadmills, stationary bikes, and elliptical trainers. The gym also has a pool and a hot tub. Each resident has an initial evaluation so that a personalized activity plan can be completed. Each facility also encourages visits from friends and families and residents have access to the lounges and multi-purpose rooms to make their guests feel more comfortable. This is all part of the holistic treatment.
